Papua New Guinea lies in the Oceania region, north of Australia. With over 850 indigenous languages and traditional societies, Papua New Guinea’s societal diversity is exceeded by its ecological diversity.
While it sometimes lacks the all-over color of other diving hotspots, I often round a corner to find vistas that are beyond breathtaking. In addition to the huge scenic overlooks, I spend hours discovering the creatures in the sand. From the harlequin ghost pipefish on every crinoid to the cuttlefish that follow you around on the dive, PNG offers a wild diversity that can’t be duplicated elsewhere.
